Driven by a desire to give back to the community, Dr Michael Wong and Dr Julianah Abu dedicate a portion of the centre’s income to support worthy causes. This ongoing commitment reflects their deep appreciation for the social good.
Our centre supports HealthServe, a non-profit community development organisation dedicated to providing pro-bono medical, dental, and legal services for migrant workers, the disadvantaged and poor in Singapore.
The International Urology, Fertility, and Gynaecology Centre launched an endowment scholarship in November 2015 to support the young daughter of a late OMF missionary, with a commitment spanning 18 years.
In Nov 2014, our centre sponsored a publication on the wonderful history of the early days of St Margaret Boarding School entitled "Lest We Forget" to help raise funds for the needy students currently studying in the school.
In Oct 2014, we were privileged to be able to support and help organise the HealthServe Fundraising Dinner, held at the Regent Hotel.
In July 2013, we had the privilege of facilitating a concert organised by medical students and HealthServe for migrant workers working in Singapore held in NUS Town. It was an amazing time where talented migrant workers performed on stage and sang about their love and their countries.
In 2011 and 2012, our centre supported several worthy causes, including HealthServe and the Singapore Hockey Federation Athlete Assistance Fund where we supported a promising youth in reaching his dreams.
In 2010, we supported the Singapore Girl Guides Association during their 100th anniversary celebration.
On 24 July 2009, the International Urology, Fertility, and Gynaecology Centre launched a scholarship book fund for Girl Guides at St. Margaret's Secondary School who have performed exceptionally well. This annual award, given to six students, is named after Mrs. Wong Hoe Eng, Dr Wong’s mother. Mrs Wong served as Senior Vice-Principal (1970-1980) and Chief Commissioner of the Girl Guides (1965-1967).
Singapore Medical Association hosts the Medical Student Fund to help finance the education needs of students from financially challenged backgrounds. On the first anniversary of the International Urology, Fertility, and Gynaecology Centre, we organised and funded a charity concert at the Esplanade on 30th April 2008 to raise awareness for the fund. It was a fully booked event!
